"Hey mom......hey.....hey dad!" I glanced around the dinner table, hoping someone - anyone - was listening. To my dismay, no one was. So I shouted at the top of my 4 year old lungs, "HEY. EVERYONE. WAIT. I've got somethin' to say..."

And that's why I'm here. Writing a blog that, let's face it, no one but my mom will read. (Shout out to Mrs. Kapke, who, after years of trial and error, eventually became my #1 listener!) But I'm used to being ignored, so it's really no big deal. Oh, the ramblings of a youngest...

How a sassy 8-year-old made my night

It's no secret that Bella, my niece, and I have our moments. Usually they are moments of unconditional love, committed friendship, and unfailing companionship.

But sometimes we have our horrendous moments. Those moments that make us question if we're aunt and niece, or sisters...or maybe even destined to be enemies?

Before you judge us, or me, since I am "the mature one," let me just say that THESE MOMENTS ARE RARE.

But one went down today. Why? Because Bella is emotional. I am confident that puberty starts earlier and earlier.

Anyway. This was our conversation:

me: Bells, why don't you let the dogs outside?

Bella: I am busy. [She was NOT.]

me: Just go let them out -- I'm in the middle of something.

Bella: Just go let them out -- I'm in the middle of something. [Oh no she did-int.]

me: And while you're at it, you can let yourself outside, too. So that you can play and have fun and get some energy out. It seems that you are not in your best mood since you are saying rude things! Maybe a hug would help?

Ok, jaykay. It was more like...

me: And while you're at it, you can let yourself outside, too. Go play with the dogs. Since [with a gleam in my evil eye], you're one of the dogs anyway.

NOTE: Bella has always, always wanted to be a dog. She asked to be a dog for Christmas one year. But apparently, she takes offense when I, her loving aunt, try to make her wish come true? Duh.

Bells: DO NOT CALL ME A DOG!!!! I am not one and you shouldn't say things like that to people...

And she dramatically runs out of the room.

Wut.

Again, WUT?

You may be wondering how this made my night? I am, too.

But because of her little spurt of sass, I found this article, titled 35 Reasons To Have Kids [Because, let's be honest, she makes me question my aspirations at times]. PLEASE WATCH.
